International Chambermusic Festival Utrecht

In the period between Christmas and New Year's Eve the yearly Int. Chamber Music Festival of Janine Jansen will take place in Utrecht. Jörgen is one of Janine's guests this year and will take part in various concerts, in a.o. Stravinsky's L'Histoire du Soldat, the sonata for trombone and piano by Hindemith and in Schall und Hall for trombone and organ by Schnittke. More info

Horizon 4 is the fourth title in a series of CDs released by the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra featuring contemporary music, including a live recording of Luciano Berio's trombone concerto SOLO, with Jörgen as soloist. It can be ordered here.

On the 6th of november, Jörgen will play the trombone concerto 'A Motorbike Oddyssey' with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in two family concerts at 14.00 and 16.00.

World premiere of trombone concerto by Kalevi Aho

On March 2, 2012, Jörgen van Rijen will perform the world premiere of a new trombone concerto written for him by the well-known finish composer Kalevi Aho, with the The Hague Philharmonic and the young finnish conductor Sanntu Rouvali. The work has been composed with the support of the Borletti Buitoni Trust. Jörgen will then continue with the Finish premiere on March 29, 2012 with the Oulu Sinfonia conducted by Anna-Maria Helsing and this will be followed by the UK premiere on May 10, 2012, at the Barbican Centre in London, with the BBC Symphony Orchestra conducted by Alexander Vedernikov.

Jurymember at Prague Spring Competition

From May 7 -15, 2011, Jörgen will be a member of the jury of the competition for trombonists which is part of the "66th Prague Spring Int. Music Festival".
